Thursday Thirteen #18 (the last one ever!! sniff! wail! noooooooo!)

This baby mobility thing is really a double-edged sword. I hate being the bad guy! I'm running out of diversionary tactics, trying desperately to keep the "no's" to a minimum while still letting him explore safely. Man, I'm exhausted! So here it is:

13 Things Baby Repeatedly Gets Into (and has since had to be moved or removed)

1. Favorite red chenille blanket with fringes at the edge. For eating, only. Baby loves everything red and everything fringe.

2. Cat food. Wet or dry. No discrimination here. He target-locks onto this and moves quickly. All you hear is "slap slap slap" which are his hands and knees on the tile. If you don't see his head you know he's closing in on the cat bowl.

3. My hair which seems to get everywhere. Seriously considering mom-cut.

4. The stone fireplace. Ordering fireplace cover tonight so as not to have baby with cracked front teeth.

5. Cords of any kind. The computer. The cable box. Phone charger. Lamps.

6. Straps of any kind. Diaper bag. Computer bag. Purses. Thankfully, these are pretty harmless. He wins the battle on these.

7. Sockets. Love love love those socket protectors.

8. Other people's shoes. Not sure why. Loves them, both on and off.

9. Underside of the area rug. Still. Ew!

10. The TV stand. Still trying to get into the doors with repeated unsuccessful attempts. Will instead eat shiny silver knobs.

11. Curtains. Loves floor length curtains. What was I thinking with floor-length curtains.

12. Microtiny-anything. No matter how clean my floors are, and I'm telling you I'm the nazi floor-cleaner, he'll still find that one tiny little speck of whatever, and I'll see the little fingers curled under and the fist heading toward his mouth and know there's something in it. How does he find these things???!!!

13. The cat. Her only defense is to run and so far, she's still faster.
*(note: somewhere along the way I skipped #5, so technically this is my real #18.)

NO MOMMY HAIR!!!

You will hate yourself for life.

Do what I did: when he yanks it, scream in pain as loud as you can. He'll never pull your hair again. *grin*

Only... I didn't MEAN to do it.

Happy *sniff* TT. I've got you blogrolled; hope you'll visit us at West of Mars!

Great list! I was so obessed with baby proofing that I actually hired a guy to come in and do it. He ran a company that specializes in it. I paid out the "you know what" to make our house so safe that it was adult proof. People hated coming over and no one could find our garbage can.
I second the no Mommy hair thing. You'll regret it. He'll grow faster than your hair :)
I'll miss TT, but I'll be back to check on Captain Poopy and his mommy and daddy. I'll be adding you guys to my bloglines so I don't miss any new adventures.

LOL! I remember those days. Both my girls had a love for shoes... on their hands... on their feet... they just loved them!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Have a fantastic Thursday.

Cat food is not fer babies - we knows this 'cause we are cats! Does yer baby thingy unroll the toilet paper? If he does, we have a furry good solution posted on our Tuesday Tip Day (2/21 post). Come by and visit. Happy last TT!

The whole licking the floor thing..ehww! Babies seem to know how to totally gross us out..
the other day my three year old was brushing her hair with the toilet brush..
I was hysterical.

I completely agree with you about the floor length curtains, I'm kicking myself buying them. I still don't understand how little children can find those little bits on the floor?

Everything on your list covers David too, plus the toilet and toilet paper. We've since had to remove the rolls from the toilet paper holder and keep the lid down. He also likes going into all cabinets and pulling out the most obscure things.

Babies find every sharp object, corner, plug, long cord, or inedible object they can. Good luck with the continued baby proofing. Thanks for stopping by my TT.

Why is it that babies can find anything in the house no matter how well hidden it is but lose the ability to find even the simplest things (like mittens and hats) when they get older?

As for the last T13 I go out with a nice round number. My Thursday 13 #30 is up. It is ironically 13 Thursday Thirteen Logos I made and used during the last 30 weeks. Stop by if you get a chance.

Those little rascals do get into everything don't they?
Bye Bye TT- sniff sniff.

I love your list. My kids are a little older now, but at that age it was all about the wheels of the stroller - those same wheels that roll over every piece of much out there. Blech!

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I'm glad to have found yours before TT ended.
