Thursday Thirteen #17-It's a love fest!
OOOOh it's almost V-Day and in the spirit, here are 13 of my favorite looooooove stories. Ooh La La! (don't forget to partake in a heart-shaped Peep!)
An UBER-SAPPY THURSDAY THIRTEEN!
1. Romeo and Juliet. The play, of course. But I also love love love the Olivia Hussey movie version but NOT the Leo/Claire Daines version which is just the littlest bit over the top to me.
2. When Harry Met Sally. Can quote every single line to this movie, but who can't really! Love it! People are always crossing rooms to talk to Maxine!
3. The Notebook. I have to watch this sparingly because I fill my crying quota for the year with this one. It's just so beautiful! Tear.
4. 50 First Dates. I can watch this over and over and over and over and over and over.
5. Pride and Prejudice. The book is so so good! Also love the Colin Firth movie version. To quote Meg Ryan, "I am always in agony over whether Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are really going to get together. Read it. I know you'll love it."
6. Which brings me to You've Got Mail. Back when the VCR was popular, I bought the tape and didn't know until I got home that I got the Spanish subtitle version which was annoying.
7. Sweet Home Alabama. I love Reese Witherspoon and that Josh guy. This movie reminds me of me a little, when I lived in New York and my boyfriend (now husband) lived in Florida and I didn't know if I wanted to move back to the smalltime (even though the city I live in really isn't that small). But I did.
8. That Touch of Mink. Cary Grant and Doris Day. This is the movie that made me fall in love with old movies.
9. An Affair to Remember. I have a little thing for Cary Grant. I guess it started with the previous movie.
10. Jersey Girl. Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler. You cry, you laugh, you cry again. Such a rollercoaster! I love it!
11. Ghost. I cried so hard into my sofa pillow when I first saw this movie ages and ages ago when Patrick Swayze peeked through the heaven-lights. Sob!!!
12. Moulin Rouge. Oy I'm seeing a pattern here. I have sobbed at this one too. Haha! But really, even if I'm still not sure if Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor can sing, I believe I still really love the song "Come What May". "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and to be loved in return."
13. Titanic. One of my favorites of all time. I wish Jack didn't have to die! Why! Why! Why!
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! I saw them all but Moulen Rouge. I thought Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind was a good love story. Also Shadowlands, the love story of C.S. Lewis and his wife. 13 Thursday sent me.
Wonderful movies! I love Colin Firth and will watch anything he is in. Pride and Predjudice is my all time favorite.
You're right about Jersey Girl being a roller coaster ride...ugh. And I BAWLED when Jack died in Titanic...but that movie was so good.
My 13 are up.
You and I would be great movie buds!
I love every single one on your list!!!
Great TT
You've named a lot of movies I like too :) I'll be right over with the popcorn!
Thanks for stopping by mine :)
I can agree with nine of those - the other four are good but wouldn't count them among my favs. And why is it that we like Romeo and Juliet when it is so tragic. *shrugging shoulders*
Wonderful movies!
Love is in the air.
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
My TT is posted.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy TT'ing!

You've named several of my favorites, especially Pride and Prejudice and The Notebook. I've never seen Moulin Rouge or 50 First Dates. I will have to check them out. Great TT.
When Harry Met Sally is one of my favorite movies.
Oh Ghost made me want to take up pottery.
Great list of movies. I have watched many of them over and over. I have to agree with Scribbit...lets make pottery!! Where is Patrick?
I saw all but two. I've never heard of Touch of mInk but I will surely check it now since it seems highly recommended by you.
Mine's up! Hope you can drop by!
Great list woman! Love 50 First Dates, The Notebook..not much for old movies though..maybe I'll give them a try..
Wow, you're a sucker for a romance, huh? Pretty cool... although I thought the Leo/Claire Danes version of Romeo was cool. Not terribly romantic 'cause it was so bizarre (and somehow brilliant), but cool.
And yes yes yes to Moulin Rouge! (I'm not as crusty as I pretend to be!)
Many of those I haven't seen yet, but I love both versions of P&P and You've Got Mail. I love old movies but haven't seen A Touch of Mink -- will have to look for that one.
I've seen about half of these films.
Titanic was heart-breaking, though I'm not a fan of Leo...
Thanks for sharing your list.
Oh I loved all of those! Makes me feel like watching a chick-flick marathon (because, yes, I think I have ALL of those on DVD)! (Love the rest of your blog by the way, and will be back)
I loooove love stories! Especially Love Story, but the ones on your list are just as good. Ghost still is one of my favourite movies, and Titanic.
Thanks for visiting my TT about support!
My daughter and I love 50 first dates. Jersey Girl was ok.
i've seen most of those movies and agree that they are very good. i love the notebook and have made my boyfriend watch it several times..the poor guy. lol. good thursday thirteen!
Did I write this list or did you? All of these are fantastic!!
Happy TT!
A lot of tears were spent on those movies.
Nice list :)
Great list!
I keep hearing Pride and Prejudice is good but have not seen it yet. Hubby watched the notebook again last night and we watched Titanic again the other night. Some movies you could watch over and over again.
How can I have not seen some of these??? I better run to NetFlix :)
Hey.. can you drop by my blog and email me using the link on the left sidebar? I don't see your email addy here or I would have written to you.
I loved, loved, loved 50 First Dates and Sweet Home Alabama. :) Happy TT! I didn't participate this week but wanted to stop by and say hi!!
I didnt think anyone else liked Jersey Girl...I cried though and the Notebook is my favorite of all time..Im not sure how they are going to the sequel because there was a huge difference in the movie and the book!
We should pack on kleenex, ice cream, chocolate... and have a crying movies marathon
Oh the sappy and super sappy movies are the best. Sometimes what a girl really needs is a pint of her favorite ice cream (mine is Hagen Daz dulce de leche) and a sappy movie with a solid happy ending. Me, I love Moonstruck. Thanks for visiting my site earlier. I'm sure I won't manage to accomplish all those things, but it's nice to dream. Happy day.
so many great movies listed there! I loved 50 First Dates, too, what's not to love about Hawaiian scenery!
Sweet home alamaba is one of my favorite movies. Great list. I almost did my list on movies today, but i chose books instead. Maybe next week. Happy TT.
Great List!!!
Loved everyone of those movies!
Happy TT!!!
